I’d like to get a pancake zoom to use on my EM5 so I could slip it in my pocket when heading out for a coastal walk where I wouldn’t bother to take a sling bag with me. Occasionally conditions change and I wish I had a camera with me.

Without either part of the battery grip it would fit in a jacket pocket with a pankcake lens on it.

Cant decide between the Olympus 14 -42 or the Panasonic 12-32.

Most of my favourite seascape images I’ve taken are at 24mm equivalent so I’m leaning towards the Panny. But is the Oly a bit thinner?

The size difference is insignificant IMO, I'd choose one or the other based on their range, optics (everything I've seen gives the slight edge to the Pana), and the mechanics...

You won't be able to manually focus the 12-32 on an Oly body (no focus ring, Pana bodies do it via touchscreen which is exactly as horrible as it sounds), so there's that... However I much prefer it's mechanically coupled manual zoom mechanism over the Oly's electronic zoom, so that and the 12mm wide end are why I chose it for mixed use on Oly and Pana bodies.

I'm not using it a ton these days, but I still keep it for scenarios much like what you described... Sometimes it's nice to leave the house with just my camera and no bag, one pancake mounted and the other in a pocket (20/1.7 & 12-32, two of my first lenses and probably two of the last I'll ever give up).
