Post-production on Linux and noisy images

Hi all,
I'm currently using Rawtherapee and Gimp for postprod and I'm able to get fairly good results with them (I started only recently though).
Yesterday I was dealing with a noisy image and wanted to make it better, so I tried with RT (with and without GIMP) and got a not so cool result, I'd say 6.5/10.
So I tried with Darktable (with and without GIMP) and got a slightly better result, let's say 7/10.
Then out of curiosity I spawned a Windows VM and tried DxO Photolab 3 elite...and got a wonderful result (definitely 9/10) with just a click.

My question for those of you doing postprod on Linux is: how do u deal with grainy images? How do u correct them with Linux-aware software?
