With the R5 8K Video Capture, Why Even Bother Taking Stills?
2

As I wrote in one of the very first threads I created on DPR, we would be getting 8K in our cameras and at that point it would make a lot of sense just capturing 8K video instead of taking stills. With the R5, you could just set a shutter speed of 1/1000 in good light and capture 8K 30fps video instead of stills. The 8K video is 33 megapixels, way more than most people will ever need.

The 8K video has a big advantage that you won't miss shots from forgetting to take them or timing things wrong. You would always be recording and just choose the best frames after.

8K and eventually 16K marks the end of an era where video and stills are considered two separate things.
