I've heard the usual situation with film camera zooms is soft photos on modern mirrorless cameras.

I've spent way too much on legacy primes though.  Wide angle film lenses seem soft to me, but longer focal lengths seem to work great, such as 50mm or 135mm.

Lately I'm into third party X-mount primes: non-electronic, manual focus, manual aperture, and no need for an adapter.  You can easily spend a fortune on these things.

So, whatever you do, be careful out there.  It's too easy to spend money these days.
