There are thousands of cameras out there working fine with PD Capture clips and other tripod-socket-attached slings, including one made by Olympus. It's a perfectly reasonable expectation that this should simply work. This looks like a design flaw, and it's a dealbreaker for me.

I don’t disagree with you. The E-M5.3 is off of my radar for other reasons, but this is an issue that is hard to overlook, depending on use case.
