Some quick hands-on X100V observations
7

I made a pilgrimage to the House of Photography today while in London and was really impressed by the fact that they had fully functional pre-production models of both the silver and black X100V. I spent a good amount of time with them and thought I'd share my impressions:

- Did a little testing and images appeared extremely sharp in the centre at f2. We already know corners are much improved. Boken also looked very pleasing.

- Focusing is much quicker and more reliable than my X100T (as you'd expect), but not as snappy as the X-Pro 3 with 23mm f2 attached. Usual pre-production caveat. Afraid I've never used the X100F so can't compare.

- Build quality and feel is extremely impressive. The improvement is more immediately obvious with the silver, IMO - the aluminium looks really great.

- Other improvements such flippy screen, ISO dial are just as well engineered as everyone's been telling us. EVF not noticeably bigger than previous generations, but very smooth and clear.

Sorry I didn't think to take more photos. Staff were very engaging and helpful.

On a separate note, I also had a play with the GFX100 (omg) and the X-Pro3 in Dura Silver. I'd heard about this being a fingerprint magnet, and obviously this will be exacerbated in this kind of environment, but it did look extremely grubby!
