Reverse lens macro - incorrect focus through viewfinder

I've got an old Sigma 28mm lens that I reverse onto my Canon 550D/T2i (crop sensor) to take macro photos. Everything works as expected.
But when I try to reverse the lens onto my Canon 6D (full frame), the focus on the actual taken picture is further away than what I saw through the viewfinder. I've tried using extension tubes, but this does not solve the issue. The focus plane on the viewfinder and on the actual picture differs.
Any ideas?

*EDIT:  OK, it seems like I was wrong in my assumption.  I think what happened is that the DOF remains the same, but because I'm now using full frame I don't have that 1.6X magnification to get the focus just right.  Now when it looks like it is in focus, it actually isn't.  I shoot at f/8, because the lens is sharpest there, so stopping down isn't really a viable option.
