Hi I am looking for a camera that I can easily take with me on dog walks, preferable in jeans pocket and that’s capable of getting good pictures of a running dog as well as pictures of my daughter with a bit of background blur. I currently have a EOS 450 and nex 6 , but both are too large for casual everyday walks - so was thinking if g9x is small enough to get into jeans pocket and good enough for capturing a moving dog ?
or just save money and upgrade my iPhone SE to iPhone 11 ? Would g9x be considerable better ? Or would differences be marginal ?
thanks for any comments

As someone who has had the G7X II (big brother of G9X) and now has an iPhone 11 Pro, I'd say get the iPhone.  You will always have it on your walks, where you'll still have to remember to charge and bring the camera.  The quality of the photos is actually better in most situations on the 11.  With the low light mode and the HDR, you'll be surprised how good the picture quality can be.  Absolutely night and day vs the iphone SE.

Video and video stabilization is also much better on the iphone vs the Canon.

Background blur is not very easy on the G9X due to the 1" sensor and slower f4.9 aperture.  You can do it, but you'll have to get close or choose your background wisely.    The iPhone has portrait mode, which can be very good, nearly FF quality, when it hits right. But there will be slight errors often.   Hard to pick a winner here, but the phone has the most potential, it's just not perfectly consistent.

The only thing you might miss is zoom and pixel peeping RAW edited image quality in good light.

Your SE is not likely to get iOS 14, so you are due for an upgrade either way.  Might as well get the 11 now.
