Capturing Images or Shooting Images

No, just one object at the end of infinity.

Shots and shooting is misapplied to guns. For guns the word should be fire and firing. You fire a gun and you shoot with a camera.

Also the word capture it is not exactly right for photographing either. You don't capture anything, you try to replicate.

I interpret "nut" as meaning an enthusiast. So "PhotoNut" is a person who is enthusiastic about photography.

Or perhaps the forum member is from Utah and likes photons, as in PhotonUT, but got a little cute with capitalization.

I capture a lot of images, then I release most of them.

Let them go free.

But many remain captives on my hard drives .

I may one day release them all.

I hope nobody shoots them.

You can release them by posting them on the web. They are free to roam and be enjoyed by others.

You kill them when you delete them. They are cast off, dead, gone.

I prefer not to refer to my photography as "taking pictures." I consider getting the shot or capturing the moment the second step in the photographic process, and certainly not the last step.

I would call photography a medium rather than a tool. Tools of the trade include cameras and lenses, but for amateurs like me my girlfriend would say they are just toys for boys.

Photoshoot has been a generic term for decades as has shooting of the camera variety.

That may be what you concentrate on. I shoot created content and when it is not created from the ground up the existing bits were incorporated to generate specific results.

That is not what I am really doing. You can describe what you are doing any way you like. More power to you.

What I am really doing is creating marketing images, and I will keep saying I have a shoot this afternoon, and I will do so knowing that my photos will not significantly affect the obesity problem no matter how many spectacular looking people I shoot.
