Lack of up to date pancakes in M43?

I agree with you.  M43 #1 selling point WAS its Small Size advantage.  Sadly, both Panasonic & Olympus has =abandon its original small-is-beautiful mission, chasing after more $ Profitable $ Bigger Camera, Bigger lens that retail for more money.

I also agree that many M43 pancake lens can use an update.  Here are my dream list:

• Panasonic 12mm f/1.7 pancake
• Panasonic 14mm f/1.7 pancake (update to 14mm f/2.5)
• Panasonic Leica 15mm f/1.7 II (with reduced height → a true pancake)
• Olympus 17mm f/1.8 II (no weakness, but perhaps a newer look & lower price)
• Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 III (with improved Faster & SILENT AF motor)
• Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 II (optics is very soft vs 20mm f/1.7)

TO BE FAIR: this is also how I feel the SAME WAY against Fuji X-system.  Many Fuji X-prime I'd tried are horribly SLOW TO FOCUS.....and badly in need of update

• Fuji 18mm f/2.0 (love the focal length, but not sharp, focus very slow)
• Fuji 27mm f/2.8 pancake (really porky in term of AF)
• Fuji 35mm f/1.4 (best BOKEH I've seen from APS-C 35mm, but SLOW to AF)
• Fuji 35mm F/2.0 (while 2.0 is faster > 1.4, it is SLOW comparing against m43 lens)

So yeah, as a small camera enthusiast, there isn't that many Viable Option.  While I am very impressed by the entire Fuji camear lineup

• Fuji X-A7 
• Fuji X-T200 (X-A7 with EVF)
• Fji X-T30 (so thin, so small, so capable)
• Fuji X-T3

I am equally REPULSED by its Slow-Axx PORKY TURTLE AF motor in its entire lens lineup.  I had HOPE to make the M43 → Fuji X switch, buts its Slow AF Lens motor is inexcusable in 2020.  I mean a 1980 Canon USM can fly circles around fuji X lens speed is just sad.

Finger crossed for

• Fuji to Update its entire lens lineup
• M43 to Update & release more Pancake lens,
• M43 can really use a New 24mp BSi sensor

Otherwise, canon R / RP / and its upcoming R5/ R6 is looking very exciting & tempting.
