It's a 1/2.3 sensor, but the lessons learned with this little camera did help when I bought mys first Canon #APSC.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8. I like my cellphone but smartphone fully replace digital cameras. How many cameras you need to add to a smartphone to compete with digtal camera and its optic/lense : 5, 10, 15, 25?

But Samsung was ahead the time with the NX1 and specially the NX. I am trying to imagine the techs Samsung could bring to digital cameras if the company did not exit the market.

Samsung were helped with the NX1 because they had no future development cost commitments or customer support to hold them back and likely they just made this camera for their own amusement and showing what they could do then walked away without even the courtesy of telling anyone. They were completely indifferent to their user base and in a way this was a tease of look how clever we are more than anything else.

An aps-c bridge would be more of a viaduct I would have thought.

I doubt if we shall see a G3X Mk II as they had to leave an EVF off the Mk I to compete price wise and their basic Powershot focusing modes are not really going to compete with Sony unless they get a dual pixel 1" sensor with still camera resolution. Canon really hang on in compacts with borrowed components including the latest EVf and all the sensors apart from the G1X III together with a chronically underdeveloped contrast detect focusing technology so how long it can all last is debatable.

The dream was always they would make a camera with a dual pixel 1" sensor but that has faded with time.
