I was also considering that. Maybe the AF became too 'sticky', or it tries to find a face first or something like that. It felt at least as if the system had to think a little first.

It's hard to find just a sample to illustrate. It's more the feeling after going through the 4000 photos of that evening. It's a very well known event for me, I've been shooting it for at least 8 years in a row. Overall the feel (so hard to quantify) was not like the recent years. Last year I also shot with the R.
