They aren't expensive. It has the worst viewfinder that gets discolored. I have a theory these light bodies also suffer pretty bad shutter shock and/or mirror slap. There is a AA battery grip for the 5.

I decided to replace my Maxxum 70 with a 600si with grip. It was a lot cheaper than 7, and I didn't like the complexity of the 7 anyway. I purchased a 7 that I discovered had a broken aperture mechanism, but at least I got yo play with it.

The 7 and 70 have the most modern AF systems, but that hasn't been a big need for me.

I have a 5000 which has the same big OVF as the 7000, but those controls just don't appeal to me.

The 600si has a decent OVF. I believe it is the same one used by the 7.

I realize it's an older thread, but I was torn between the 7 and 70 too. Ultimately, it came down to the fact that I don't shoot much, so there was minimal justification for the additional expense of the 7. I purchased a 70 body and lens kit in mint condition and I'm more than pleased with it.
