Re: Panasonic GX10 - what more do we need?

a hole ? like you mean replacing the good 8/18mm by one lens which is barely useable at the normal apertures. I do not think that anyone but you want this hole to be filled

2. Sorry, the way it was written I was not sure if you were referring to the weather sealed primes or just the 12-32.

no just the 12-32mm. it makes NO sense to add weather sealing to a lens only sold as a kit lens with NON weather sealed bodies

3. There's clearly some desire for a GX8-sized camera as evidenced by the success of the E-M5 II.

you lost me there . what do these cameras have in common ?

You trade 10 mm of width and 18 mm of depth on the GX8 to gain 10 mm on the height and the range finder body style. Mass is nearly identical between the two.

well maybe but people here who ask for a compact do not seem to like even small bodies with the DSLR hump

4. The EM-5 III is not a range finder and does not have a tilting EVF. That matters a lot to some people. It matters so much that after a bit of soul searching, I'm paying $500 to get my GX8 repaired instead of buying an E-M5 II, E-M5 III or E-M1 II. Food for thought.

ok even more confused. you say one thing about the gx8 versus the em5 II and something that read the opposite when comparing to the three. you lost me there

-Who said a lightweight 8-18 would replace the existing 8-18 f/2.8-4. Panasonic could sell both. You know, kinda like how they already do it with the Vario 12-60 and Panasonic-Leica 12-60?

but WHY ? the 8-18mm is only about 315grs ... if this is still too heavy for you .. you have the Olympus which is half of the weight.

what else do you want ?

-You lost me there. You can buy the 12-32 as a non-kit lens. So yes, a weather sealed option would be a great idea.

Indeed it looks it now is. still not likely on such a cheap and tiny lens

-How have I lost you? You brought up the E-M5 III as the solution my problem. I pointed out that (crucially) it is not a rangefinder nor does it have the awesome tilting EVF. Those features are significant enough that, for me, I would rather repair my GX8 than upgrade to a body that ticks many of the boxes. It should be pretty straight forward.

so you are saying that you do not only want a small body rangefinder type but you also NEED the  tilting EVF , is that it ?

then what about the gx9 ?
