Muddy waters - X100V vs competition
7

I just got wind of the X100V specs and saw the 150-post thread discussing the lack of WR.

Actually, I'll be honest, the lack of WR is slightly disappointing for me, but not a deal breaker. I have some strategies which I use unless its an absolute downpour (in which case I don't shoot) to keep the camera dry "enough" although yes, it is still a risk which is why obviously WR is still better. But with a plastic bag and a coat, I can handle it okay, on the few occassions I need to be shooting in weather.

No image stablization is also kinda disappointing, but then again, not a deal breaker as I can live with not having it even though I would prefer it.

The thing that seems kinda odd is the rather large price increase given the very minimal feature increase (bump in MP, at what else - I don't even remember?) - $1,500. Right now I have the X100T with WCL and TCL, and if I get the V I would probably opt to add the newer lenses so that I don't have to keep changing the menu option (I ALWAYS forget to turn it on, but if I do, you can be sure I forget to turn it off later). This brings the total price to over $2k, which brings it into RX1R II territory. Sure, the RX1R II doesn't have the converter lenses, but that's about the list of downsides.

Unless the AF is very much improved over the F (available used for half the price)? Or the lens is so much better?

Tomorrow is announcement day so I guess we will see, but right now, I am just not super excited about the V. Is there any reason I should be?
