I was willing to put up with the significantly smaller image and was interested in that camera too, but I have seen comments by two trusted reviewers that there is very long lag, maybe a second or two, for the evf to turn on with the X-E3 and one comment that the proximity sensor switch just does not work very well if you wear glasses. I could not put up with that.

Glasses-wearing X-E3 owner here - happy to confirm that I have not experienced either of those issues. EVF startup very snappy on mine - maybe it was fixed by firmware?

Have not experienced this at all - no lag - very fast every time. For me it has been a great camera. Used it hard all over France and Spain for a couple of months - no problems.

Agreed. I haven't noticed any EVF lag. I bought the X-E3 with the latest firmware on it and hadn't used it before, so I am a bit biased. But it's not as snappy as my X-T3's EVF but it's negligible in difference. Most importantly, it doesn't bother me.
