The word from Phase One is that 10.15.2 breaks tethering in Capture One. I have heard first hand reports that it also breaks tethering in Lightroom. Who knows what else it breaks.

Patience is advised.

FWIW I saw a mention that keyboard control of audio playback in Music.app has broken with 10.15.2 . That may seem unrelated but it could possibly be another instance of a USB-attached device having issues controlling an app.

Here also, with Lightroom. :-(

Hi. Just tied tethering with My Nikon Z6, worked fine with both Lightroom Classic and OnOne. My Z6 has 2.10 F/W and running MacOS 10.15.2. Only thing I have noticed is that on an iPad Pro (2018) the Z6 doesn’t show up in “files”. You can still import directly into “Photos” . Putting the QXD card into a reader does show up ion “files”.

I was very patient with Catalina, not so patient with 10.15.2 as it seemed innocuous. But alas, it breaks C1 tethering.

There's another thread going with a Canon user not being able to ingest images using a USB cable (camera to computer) as well.

That Canon user would be yours truly. Perhaps among others...

As I recall, there was a whole series of Catalina releases - my issue, at least, did not occur until the last two or three.

Outside of the beta releases of Catalina there have only been three production releases: 10.15.0, 10.15.1 and 10.15.2. I haven't heard a thing about potential causes or fixes.

I personally elected to restore back to 10.15.1 so that I could continue use C1 and tether. I'm happy I did it and now I can wait for 10.15.3 and some proof it all works before I jump on the upgrade.

FYI from a Phase One employee over on their forum:

"The root cause of this issue is that Apple has changed the requirements for applications that want to access a PTP-connected capture device. This cannot be resolved by user-side trouble-shooting. We are working on an update that will be compatible with macOS 10.15.2. Until this is released, please do not update to 10.15.2."

Or for Capture One to update its application

Correct! I meant to say "wait for 13.0.1 (of C1)" (CaptureOne 20 = v 13.0.0 at the moment)

minor correction: C1 20 = C1 20, there is no v13
Actually there is , their "builds" go by the old number scheme.

grin cool, I didn't know that.

I stand corrected.
Confusing as heck. So I guess I'm running CaptureOne 20 build 13.0.0.

BTW, PhaseOne released 13.0.1 (20.0.1???) today and is supposed to fix the tethering issue. Looks like they patched it in 7 or 8 days

I know previously it broke with Lightroom 6 and I wondered I even have an HP laptop with Windows 10 and Lightroom 6 and it works now I’ll have to try it today.

--sadly 10.15.3beta with Lightroom 6.x.x crashes Lightroom on the other hand the Windows 10 developers edition on the HP Laptop and Lightroom works. Yes I do use both systems.

It does work with Image Capture (D500)and can set up a watch folder in Lightroom a little clunky but does work. I am retired so its not hassle for me.

In your post, you said, "sadly 10.15.3beta with Lightroom 6.x.x crashes Lightroom on the other hand the Windows 10 developers edition on the HP Laptop and Lightroom works. Yes I do use both systems."

Why are you still using 10.15.3 Beta? The latest released version of Catalina is: 10.15.2

I'm still using the beta as the laptop 2012 is no longer used for work. I usually show the new features and what is broken to our MAC user group meetings also the HP Laptop is shown at the Windows users group meetings.

At least most of them will see what works and what does not and if they decide to upgrade to make sure they are ready to go for it. I usually suggest that they put the new OS on an external drive or do a wait and see.

One of my friends' did that on his iMac without having a Time Machine or clone backup. He was not a happy camper.

The 2012 iMac is running Mojave and happily most things work especially SilverFast for the Epson V500 is now 64 bit.

I do have a 2012 Mac Pro Tower running for legacy programs.

Have a good super bowl day!
