Re: What are you doing about cataract lens replacements?

I had cataract surgery on my left eye (the right eye did not need it) several years ago. The surgeon recommended a single-focus lens because bifocal lenses had not yet been around long enough to determine any long-term effects. I find that I can forego eyeglasses when shooting; my distant vision is good enough to locate even small birds. I have a diopter correction dialed into my viewfinder for my right (dominant) eye. I can see all camera controls okay without glasses, but reviewing an image on the lcd was a problem without corrective lenses. A fellow photographer let me try his loupe (a Hoodman) and now I use that to check images, leaving my glasses in my pocket most of the time. All-in-all, the cataract surgery was a very positive development.
