D2x rumour....

Hate to feed the beast, and we all know that ANYTHING we read at
the moment is speculation - however, this was one of the more
interesting and credidble, 'my uncle knows a man' stories....

If what was told to Scrubber is true, what do you think the price
tag would be on the D2X. Do you think it would be near the 14N
price or the EOS 1ds?

I had this dream last night...D2x is no longer just a rumor...price? over $100.00...dreams never lie.

Im going to wait one more month and if nikon dont release the d2h
by then im switching over to canon. Had a bloody F* KING gutsful
waiting on nikon. And who knows when the d2x is going to be
released.

Hurry the F* KUP NIKON
Were you ever waiting for Nikon in the first place? I am seriously wondering....coz I noticed someone with the same name, hopefully not you, bashing Nikon all these while , instead of having a single word of praise?

You mean you to maintain the F5 Metering Sensors even though Nikon has developed and announced a new Sensor with the D2H?

Read: Multi-Cam 1300 and the New Multi-Cam-2000.
I'd postulated on the possibility of a 14mp FF LBCAST answer for
the new D2x to explain the long awaited delay here (

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=6308321 ) but I didn't predict an announcement on it until some time next year, if Nikon is moving this fast on scaling out the LBCAST technology ...their statement of an increasing pace of development in the DSLR space seems to be happening with great alacrity.
I'd be surprised if a full frame D2x is 14mp (or 13.5 to be more
precise). That would indicate that LBCAST has been developed in two
photosite sizes, which I think is too much to expect at this point.
More likely is 10mp.

Geez, before I get all wound up about a phantom D2X , I just want a real D2H-- or at the very least a real review of a D2H with real sample images. Enough with all this rumor mongering. And enough with Nikon stringing us along with so much uncertainty. Wasn't it just a couple months ago that Nikon was saying that they had absolutely no plans for full frame in the near future? And that was why we should all go out and buy new DX lenses?

I don't believe anything Nikon says anymore. I'll believe it when I see it.

I just upgraded my D100 ccd to a 17.5 mp ccd from Best Buy for 100 dollars. The guy even installed it for me; even though he worked in the DVD section. It's awesome. I think. I haven't tried it yet, but I will in the future.

F5 is tried & tested. No different than Canon building the 1D & 1Ds in the tried & tested 1V. I don't know if Nikon can use D1x or D2h (which are crop factor bodies) for ff. Don't crop factor bodies have smaller mirrors?

Yup, that is what Nikon said, and then they announced the D2H, which is not FF, as well as DX lenses to give WA to those who have cameras that are not FF. Then another Nikon exec mentioned FF "sometime in the future". Could be the D2X, maybe not. So, what is not to believe? And what is this garbage about "buying all new DX lenses"? You only need them if you want more WA than the 17-35 or 18-35 will give you, unless you go with a Sigma 15-30.

So, what is your point, except to complain? Either wait or don't.

I don't even read them anymore......too many other positive posts out there!

HI Melissa
Of course you can - but it comes out at 17.25mp, and is $150

I think they are in high demand, so you may have to wait for a week or so.

kind regards

Enough of the bull_ _ _ t, enough of waiting...

But before you dump all these garbage gear, do me a favour...

Send me a list of them, and I promise I will make your "dumping" a lot more fun by buying them, so you will have a story to tell to your peers, that you found a fool to buy all your garbage...!!!

DON'T WAIT ANOTHER MONTH! DO IT NOW!!!

...it is my fiance you're talking about and she is not a Vet, she is a specialized nuclear proctologist...
Don't say that the name of the wife of the uncle is Sarah. If it
is, I know her well and there are a couple of things you should
know about her. E-mail me if so.

Regards

Raul
I heard the same from my barber, who got it from his uncle's wife's
cousin's next door neighbor's dog's girlfriend's vet, who knew a
guy who used to work for Nikon R&D.

If this guy is working as a consultant for camera companies, he would HAVE to sign extremely restrictive non-disclosure agreements. His supposed chat with the photographer would be a career ending mistake. People with that kind of access don't make that kind of mistake. Besides, can you imagine ANYONE opening up a conversation with "Do you have the new firmware for your D1X?" Sounds like a line from a Revenge of the Nerds remake.

I guess the fabricator had to make his "source" someone high-up to keep it from sounding like yet another I-know-a-guy-that-works-for-Nikon story.

Why do people go to so much trouble to cook this stuff up? Have they just run out of things to take pictures of?

Hi!
'could be interesting to know the size of the "D2h" mirror.

If its a "big", heavy FF mirror this could be a hint to a future FF (D2X or other)

I'd love to believe it, but I must admit, I can't see this sort of conversation happening, especially after ZERO press.

I found that item after a Google D2X search, thought it was interesting enough to put the link in here.

I read in one of the 2 trillion reviews that the new D2H mirror / shutter mechansim does indeed cover a full frame.

i wouldn't read too much into this though - if you're developing such a revolutionary new product, you'd only want to do it once and cover as many bases as possible.
