FInally, went with the Fuji XT100 dual kit lens combo
Excellent choice!
Can someone share some of the settings and customizations for XT100?
Under Power Management settings, set High Performance to ON for a quicker shooting experience. This uses a little more battery power but it's worth it.
Under Screen Set-Up settings, set EVF Autorotate Displays to ON to see camera settings right-side-up when using the EVF in portrait orientation.
In AF/MF Setting, under Release/Focus Priority, I prefer AF-S set to FOCUS and AF-C set to RELEASE. That just makes the most sense to me.
In the same settings area, setting AF + MF to ON allows you to fine-tune your focus via the lens' manual-focus ring when holding down the shutter-release button halfway — once you adjust focus to your liking, complete pushing down the shutter-release button fully to take the shot.
Set Pre-AF to OFF. Otherwise, the lens will constantly autofocus on its own, which is annoying.
I will be using mainly aperture priority mode.
Just know that you'll only get a live exposure preview in the LCD and EVF if you shoot in Manual exposure mode. For that, in your Screen Set-Up settings, you need to have Preview Exposure in Manual Mode set to ON and Preview Pic Effect set to ON.
When using Auto-ISO, I have that set to 200-6400, with the minimum shutter speed set to 1/15 second (or whatever minimum shutter speed you feel comfortable hand-holding without camera shake).
What film simulations to use?
I seem to like the standard Provia best so far, or Pro Negative Hi if I want to tone down the color a little. The film simulations are really personal preference. Experiment with all of them and see what you like.
picture settings?
I like noise reduction set to -2 for better detail.
Sharpness set to -2 for naturally less image noise. I can always add sharpness in post if needed.
I keep highlight tone and shadow tone both set to 0.
button customizations etc?
Definitely set the left dial to ISO setting for quick ISO changes. The default is film-simulation setting, but that can be brought up by tapping a little button on the right side of the touch screen. There's another such button right next to it for Focus Mode setting as well.
I set the Fn button to Face/Eye Detection Setting in case I quickly need to change that.
WHat AF modes to use?
AF-S most of the time and usually with Focus Area set to WIDE. Or I tap the touch screen to simultaneously focus and take the shot if the AF isn't choosing the focus point I want.
When shooting people, AF works better with the face/eye detection set to FACE ON / EYE AUTO. I usually leave the setting this way regardless of whether I'm shooting people.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Enjoy your camera!
