Face/Eye/Object-Tracking in continuous focus mode (BBF)

Hi,

sorry for the, maybe, simpe minded question of a new Z user ...

As a landscape photographer I usually have no need for AF-C or even AF at all. For some upcoming concert shooting I'd like to try the above mentioned focus methods (although Nikon suggests to use dynamic or wide area AF for these opportunities).

As far I've understood, it's just about using auto-area and waiting for a face/eye to be detected or using the OK-button to select the tracking-object. For both methods, as soon as the rectangle is yellow, the object is tracked.

When in continuous focus mode (AF-C) using BBF, do I have to press AF-ON all the time although the object is being tracked anyway? If so, why? As the camrea knows what to track  it could keep that object in focus at the same time, at least in AF-C, no?

Kind regards,

Fred
