this is an interesting business strategy by Fujifilm

Assuming they will price this competitively ($200-250) this will make entering the Fuji system a lot cheaper.

Fujifilm will probably package this as a kit lens. An XT200 with a 15-45 and a XC 35mm F2 for $750 would be a compelling bargain for beginners. Having just a 50 equivalent would be challenging for beginners who are used to the 26-29mm phones.

It will probably be a kit lens since all XC lenses are available in kits and terrible value if purchased standalone.

Agreed.

While there are plenty here on the forum that obviously have deep pockets and money to burn, there a good deal more of us who haven't got that level of cash. Having three good quality starting lenses, and all the XC lenses are good quality, having the nifty fifty style prime is an excellent move on Fuji's part.

Coupled with what is a very well specced entry/enthusiast level camera for a reasonable price has got to be a plus for those of us wanting to enjoy the Fuji mirrorless system. I cant afford or justify buying the the XT-30 level kit or above, but I can afford the X-T200 and a nice starter kit.
