Appeals a great deal to me. Currently the XF 35mm f2 retails here for $718.00 nzd The XC version will be perhaps two thirds of that price, maybe a little less, so for me it means money saved for another piece of kit.

Not having a dedicated aperture ring isn't a big deal, it simply means shooting using a different method. As to optical quality, again not likely to be a major issue. Iv'e used XC lenses in the past and they perform very nicely, making it hard to justify some of the massive outlay needed for the pro level lenses.
