I agree that perception of sharpness is quite complicated, it depends on micro-contrast or sometimes on the color cast. For example, I sometimes add a just tiny bit of a blue cast to my BW photos to make them visually punchier/sharper.

However, the resolution is another thing and it can be objectively measured. At the end of the day, the resolution is about resolving more details.

If If look at the area of the dollar on your photos, around the number 20 I can see X-A5 resolving more details.
