Ever hear of Kodak colors?

Decades ago Kodak realized film that renders pleasing colors sold better than film with accurate colors. They found film stock with the most consistent color profile and the most pleasing colors was how to beat any competition and sell even more.

Fujifilm also realized this. Make each type of film consistent, and find the most pleasing colors for different situations (portraits, landscapes, etc.)

I am guessing, but Canon replicated Kodak colors, while we know Fujifilm replicates their popular film stocks.

Another camera maker that is good is Olympus. They worked with Kodak and Kodak sensors for a while when Kodak was still around.

Other companies, especially Sony, are all over the place. For one generation they might have a deep red bias, then they'll switch to trying to be the most "accurate", then they'll change again rarely getting better. As Kodak proved over 50 years ago, "Accurate" is not what people want or remember - do you really think those beaches you've been to and picture in your mind are that color with beautiful teal/blue colored water?
