Small Birds with the Sigma 60-600mm - a friendly duel . . .

. . . with NFPhotographer's current thread: Small Birds with Sony 200-600mm (link is below). Thanks for your post, NFPhotographer, that set up this comparison.

This post is also to remind people that the Sony 200-600mm does have very credible competition in the Sigma 60-600mm Sport for small birds and most other subjects as well. Hey, I had the Sigma long before the Sony was announced, in case you were going to ask why I don't have the Sony. One of these days I hope to get a Sony loaner to do a direct comparison.

If I remember correctly, all of these are A7R IV 26mp crop mode downsized to 1800 pixels on the long side. Almost all are from at or near the MFD, most are handheld and some tripod mounted. Absolutely no sharpening was added to any image, just noise control where necessary plus some tweaks to contrast (also, where necessary).

American Tree Sparrow

Tufted Titmouse

Blue Jay

House Sparrow

Red Bellied Woodpecker

Male Cardinal

Female Cardinal

Starling

White Throated Sparrow

Starling

Downy Woodpecker

And, off topic, one large bird, definitely not from anywhere near the MFD:

Female Adult American Bald Eagle

Comments and questions are always welcome.
