I was thinking the same, too. There isn't readily available chips that optimized for X-Trans, so either Fuji has to custom-order one, or use a general-processing chip that isn't optimized.

Given how Markesteijn seems to have some better output than Fuji's SOOC, I think they're still tweaking their demosaic, and thus is on the fence about whether to invest more into it. Perhaps internally the X-Trans argument is loosing support as well, unless their initial engineering papers on X-Trans is still showing some potential.

I just realized I meant to say "a bigger difference when processing in camera", but I see you understood.

This reply is just to clear up my statement for anyone else who happens to be rightly confused by my earlier reply.
