I remember on a forum 5 years ago someone told me that he had 4K screen, so no need for him to record in 4K and none of his freinds had it either, so he was not using 4K recording.

Well, most camcorder, photocameras, mobile phones, PC Screens and TVs sold today do 4K. Would've been no problem to show his few years 4K recordings.

We can be sure that 16K will be coming in the future sometime, even though it is not neded for most of us. I could live with a 4K TV for the rest of my life, but I know I probably will have a 8K TV within 10 years from now.

When you get that 8K TV, will it be able to play 4K videos?

Of course

So if you do get that 8K TV 10 years from now, you'll still be able to watch the 4K videos you take today and display the 8MP stills too. So why should that have any bearing on what camera you buy today?

One can upscale the very first 1mp digital pictures too.

What is your point?

My point is that a 1MP picture scaled up will look horrible, but a 16MP picture scaled up will be indistinguishable from a native resolution picture on a 8K TV.

There's a point of diminishing returns, and we've reached it.

I see your point. But I'm more in the line that 4K 33.2 mp is more future proof, gives clearer picture, room for zooming on the TV and cropping in editing of the picture. But 16mp is ok enough for most of us (not me).
