Re: my fix of the K-30 aperture problem without disassembly

Dont brick your K30/K50/K-S1/ K-S2 without giving it several tries.

My K30 has shown the dreaded aperture failure about 18 months ago, probably because it doesnt get much use since I bought a K3, and I now shoot mostly with my M43 gear.

I didnt send it for service, because there was also another small issue with the broken yellow clutch that holds the battery in place.

I tried to wake it back to life by shooting several full speed bursts, and actuating the aperture lever via the raw/fn button.

It worked, though I had to do it again every other month.

Then last fall it didnt work anymore, probably because it had been sleeping during 3 months.

Thus I thought it was hopeless and my K30 was bricked.

Yet, today, after reading another post abot the same topic, I decided to give it another try via the raw/fn button, which I actuated almost 100 times, and also some 100 shots in bursts: bingo, it is working again.

Presently I am waiting for the batteries to charge, as all these exercises have emptied them.

Thus my tip is try and try again exercising the aperture lever via the raw/fn button, it might go back to life.

And once this is achieved, dont forget to wake it again this way, at least once every second week, so that it doesnt get stuck again.
