Even for large size posters, it matters how close you're going to get to them.  Human ability to see detail is limited by our eye's ability to discriminate small angular changes.  I can't see the individual pixels on my 65 inch 4K TV, despite it being only 68 DPI.  That's 57 x 32 inches.
