I have the G7 camera which has a 16k pixel sensor and I noticed the Panasonic produced other cameras that have a 16k pixel sensor, so I'm wondering why not move to higher pixel sensors like other manufactures have.
The only advantage of a 16k sensor was when I was only holiday I could take a lot of photos without fulling up the media card.

I don’t think you understand the relationship between sensor size and pixel density. 16Mpix on m43 = 32Mpix on FF with the same pixel density. Smaller pixels = more noise. Hence, higher pixel density = more noise. The 16Mpix sensor hits a sweet spot between resolution and noise hence the m43 manufacturers hesitation to digress too far from that sweet spot until new sensor technology comes around with a lesser signal-to-noise ratio, that being the electrical signal generated by the photons that hits the sensor. The bigger the light receptors (I.e. the fewer pixels for any given size sensor) the stronger the signal hence the less noise there is. Certain manufacturers hide the added noise using software based noise reduction techniques, at the cost of details resolution, and although a more dense sensor may capture more details, they mostly get washed out in the noise removal process, so you end up with a larger file size with little to no gain in details. This in turn cost more in processing power (hence more expensive camera) for little to no added benefit.
