Nikon helps Adobe......
7

When I started using my Z50 with RAW-files (after Lightroom fully supported it) I found something interesting - the Z50 NEF-files had been changed, before I even started to edit them.

Some settings like sharpening, noise reduction, contrast, saturation were edited even after I made a reset.......

After starting to read Thom Hogan’s Complete Guide to the Nikon Z50 I found out why!

"The Z50 does something interesting: it puts some very specific information into the NEF file that Adobe converters pick up. This makes the Adobe default conversion much closer to the results that Capture NX-D produces, but not exactly the same" .........

.......................

"I’ve already mentioned that the Adobe converters pick up information targeted for them that lives in the Z50 NEF file (Nikon DSLR NEF files don’t do this). Specifically:
• The overall Picture Control will be used to select a value to populate the Adobe Profile instead of the usual default of Adobe Color.
Also, if you’ve made Saturation, Clarity or Contrast changes in a Picture Control, those will be picked up and shown in the Basic panel as well.
Camera settings in High ISO NR and Set Picture Control will change Adobe’s default Detail panel settings (sharpening and noise reduction)."
