Do you have a cat? Maybe hold the lens close and see if the cat hairs get attracted to it.

Actually, we have no animals. I literally just took off the lens cap and the front element was full of dust again. I have a Staticmaster brush/anti-static thing, that I use to clear off negatives before I scan them.  I am using it on the lens to see if there will be less dust going forward.
