rx10 iv - great evf but probs with eyecup

Been trying out my new rx10 iv. Have problems with the eyecup (so called).  Here in Spain the sun is very bright and it leaks badly into the evf view - very unhelpful. Find I have to wear a large-brimmed hat to get the sun off the back of the camera - not comfortable.  EVF view suits me as I normally wear glasses and the diopter means I don't need them. Much prefer this to glasses + LCD.

My question is - do others have this problem or am I using it wrong?  It is really just a ridge of hard plastic, not a proper cup.  If I press right up hard to it, not only is it uncomfortable but my nose hits the LCD and moves the focus point all the time (do want the LCD on though).

Is it possible to get a proper replacement/third-party cup? If not, any ideas or experiences?  TIA
