I just got a 4K Sony Android TV and have been struggling with this!

I've only found one App for the TV that displays photos in 4K from a cloud upload. It's the Sony Album app, which is a photo viewer/browser, and it has the choice of browsing from folders on the TV hard drive, from a connected device and from the Sony Playmemories online photo service

It works pretty well. Photos display in 4K and scrolling between them is pretty smooth and fast. There is a nice slideshow function, and you can also play music in the background with various options.

With Playmemories you can upload full size JPGs, and these are stored in the cloud and available for viewing and download full size.

Unfortunately Sony have discontinued the photo browsing feature!

The viewing/browsing function of BRAVIA® TVs with Android TV™ has been discontinued.
Images uploaded to PlayMemories Online can still be viewed/browsed on your PC/smartphone/tablet as before

Utterly infuriating.

I want to view 4k, real 4k photos, on my recent model fully updated Sony Bravia Android 4k TV from a cloud upload. I do not want any boxes, dongles or sticks. Straight fast wifi into the TV.

Is there really no way of doing this?

OK, so I gave up on a sensible way of doing this and thought I'd revert to an old way - copying photos onto a USB stick and plugging that into the TV. It works despite feeling like a pretty archaic method.

Oh no. It worked once. The Sony TV fried the USB stick when I pulled it out so badly I could not reformat it.

It is utterly infuriating that TV makers are selling us 8K TVs now and they still haven't got a sensible way for a 4K Android TV owner to look at photos in 4K.
