If you want to replace the built-in flash, the smallest Canon flash is the 90ex. An interesting feature is that it can control off camera flash (optical). If you don't photograph bugs, you can buy a 270EX II and use it as a remote optical slave. As the flashes communicate using visible light, it may scare them. There are other Canon flashes that work as optical slaves, the 270EX II is the lightest and in my opinion it is suitable for macro work.

If you want a small and light flash with tilt and swivel head, you can buy the Canon EL-100. I like the possibility to tilt and swivel the flash head to bounce the light off the walls.

The 430EX III RT has more features, including slave radio flash, but I think it's a little heavy.

Recently I updated my Godox TT350C firmware and TTL seems to be working with the SX50. It has lots of features, similar to the 430EX III for a lower price and it's considerably lighter too.
