I have not heard that the Samyang 14mm uses "EF" - ie: you can use the R's fast EVF refresh and the other small limitations of EF protocol lenses on the EOS R.. has anyone? If there is no such limitation on the Samyang 14mm then figuring out the protocol is easy - Samyang already did it.

With the Samyang AF 14mm for RF, fast EVF refresh rate is not available. Peripheral illumination (vignetting) and distortion corrections, as well as in-camera DLO, can be enabled.

I am more than surprised that DLO works - I was under the impression that to get DLO working you needed to load in the lens correction profile into either camera or DPP, and I have NEVER found a 3rd party lens profile for DPP (I don't use in camera corrections). When I opt to load up a lens profile in DPP, only Canon lenses appear.

It certainly doesn't work with my Samyang 14mm f2.4 XP (premium range) lens. I have a 6F ii, not R.

I don't know either - i wonder how accurate it is, or if Samyang is just mimicking for instance the EF 14mm 2.8L

My understanding is that was one of the features of the RF protocol was the ability of the lens to send the DLO package down to the camera.  EF protocol is too slow to do this.

So yeah, i have no idea.
