So, I have the Canon 85mm 1.7 now. It seemed to work fine on my Rebel at the store.

Would you recommend that I use auto focus over manual focus with this lens?

I am thinking that maybe 2.8 or so might be enough light. I'm afraid I'll shoot and find that they all are not in focus later. I will practice now and then take a look. I have to get it right... tomorrow is the last meet I have to get these shots.
