I don't think I will ever buy the G9X I,II, and III if it ever comes. Unless they can supply a lens that is 24 X 120 that is on the S100, S110, S120.

That is not part of the design aim. The G9X is designed to be very small but deliver outstanding optical quality. To achieve this, Canon was prepared to sacrifice focal length range. The G9X achieves its design goals very well indeed.

In engineering, there is no something for nothing. If you want a larger focal length range, you need to sacrifice optical quality, or you need to sacrifice size and weight. (Or give up a little of both.) Among a sea of look-alike, act-alike compact cameras from a host of manufacturers, the G9X offers something different and valuable. Nothing else offers the same quality in a similarly tiny package. It's not a well-known camera or a big seller, but in its own way it's a little gem.

The only feature I'd like to see on a G9X III is better dust sealing - the current model isn't really pocketable because it collects too much dirt inside and it is difficult and expensive to have cleaned.

I could live with the G9X if it was 24mm. I can even do with 84mm on the long end.

My S110 has been an excellent little camera. Takes great photos and does real well on videos. It's just one of several cameras I have. And is always with me in my pocket.

AFA the G9X is concerned I don't see Canon changing it.
