The G7 is widely available in the U.K., new from Panasonic dealers. I doubt it is still being manufactured. Regardless, given the small differential in price, the G80 is a far better camera and the one to go for if buying ‘last years model’. Had the G7, now have 2 G80s.

I had a look at the general specs for the G80 camera and compared to the G7 I don't see much difference. What attracted you to the G80 camera?
I think the G80 does not have a built-in flash.

Brian, IIRC when you posted earlier enquiries on you first M43 (last year or earlier?), members should have listed the difference on G7 and its successors ...

G85 has an integrated flash. Indeed G85 has everything G7 has.

The following are the highlight on major features that G7 does not have:

  • Weather sealed body,
  • IBIS for all non IS lens, a lot of improvement over the better than nothing primitive IBIS of GX7,
  • DUAL IS 2 for min 1.5~2 stops more effective IS than lens OIS,
  • IBIS for 1080 and 4K video which is far more useful on video than OIS,
  • A new m-shutter to reduce possible shutter shock,
  • Removed the AA filter for sharper SOOC output,
  • Not sure about G7, but G85/GX85 has a stop higher usable ISO then GX7, so could be the same for G85 vs G7...

The above are now basically a norm spec of Panasonic M43 nowadays (likely the entry class GF will use the same soon). G7 is not old because it was launched a few years back. In fact it is the last G line of camera using the older hardware spec as G5, G6...

Thanks alcelc.

Good to know.
