Re: Flashes for X cameras with focus assist? // Anyone out there with more experience?

So, I've had the chance to play around a bit with my own gear. All parts have the latest firmware.
Honestly, the AF assist beam topic seems not an easy thing.
Here's what I found out:
- Of course, you need to turn on AF assist in the Fujifilm camera settings and in the Godox flash settings
- The assist beam is then reproducibly activated under certain light conditions. The Godox TT 685 F and the XPro-F sender behave all the same (both have an LED).
- Naturally, when it's not dark, the beam is not activated
- But the assist beam is also not activated when it's 'too' dark. Seems to be steered through the camera's exposure meter (easily tested out by simply covering / uncovering the lens). No indication that there is a light sensor on the Godox flash or Godox sender. Setting a certain shutter speed (as you can read in forums) did not change this behavior in any way. Have no experimental indication and also cannot imagine that distance plays a role in the assist beam activation (guess distance cannot be measured anyway in the dark w/o an assist beam).
So, the AF assist beam is activated only in a certain (and in my opinion rather narrow) window of brightness.
Today I did not take the time to test whether the beam really helps to get the photos sharp, it was only about assist beam activation / no activation. It is of course disappointing that the AF assist beam is not activated when it's quite dark, i.e., when you'd really need it!
A quick research revealed that this could potentially be a systematic issue with mirrorless cameras as compared to DSLR.
Some further reading:
I'd be happy if someone with more experience in the AF beam assist topic could comment a bit here. Is it true that all mirrorless suffer from an AF assist limitation? Or is it related to Fuji? Or to Godox? Or to pairing Godox and Fuji? Do Fujifilm's own flashlights actually behave differently in the dark?
...To conclude with a positive statement: what I like with Godox, is the great wireless functions!
