What's the real verdict here? I'm only focusing on image quality.

Given the fine quality levels of both cameras in question, I doubt you would discern a difference in image quality between the two, in actual use.

My own personal take is that DPR's or any other test charts, may or may not truly correlate to real-world shooting.

However, since you stated you are only focused on image quality, perhaps a one-inch sensor camera is not the best choice for you?

I use a Canon S120 as well as a Panasonic LX100.  Image quality from both of them is excellent.  I've purchased (2) G7X II cameras and had to return them for lens issues.  The image quality was affected negatively only b/c of lens softness.  Canon isn't alone - I had to return a Panasonic LX10 and (3) RX100 series cameras all for the same issues.

I'm watching comments on the G5X II.  I'm thinking it might work b/c the lens is new and my hopes are that the quality control might be improved.  Hoping, hoping.

Full-frame cameras offer higher image quality, but typically are not nearly as compact, except for the Sigma FP.

Just my two cents.....
