Hello everyone!
Altough not related to taking pictures itself with an android device, I just finished my first android-app for photographers (it's totally free, contains no advertising and does not reqire any special permissions on your phone).
Some years ago I started photography as a hobby. Since then I have been a hobby photographer and ethusiast. During november last year I came up with the (crazy) idea to lern programming small android apps during the rainy and cold season. So I bought a book and started. I quickly came up with the idea to make a small photography related app as a first little project (what a surprise for a hobby photographer :)).
The first result can be found here in google-play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=derjens.photoassistentangeblitzt
At the moment my littel app can do some (to me) useful stuff:
- it calculates the depth of field depending on the camera, the focal length, the aperture and the object distance
- it calcualtes the hyperfocal distance depending on the camera, the focal length an the aperture
- it makes suggestions for exposure times for single-shot milkyway pictures depending on the focal length and crop factor and also makes suggestions for the ISO range, depending an the aperture
- it makes suggestions for shutterspeeds when holding the cam in the hands depending on crop factor, focal length an whether or not you have image stabilisation active
- it provides helpful tables and charts (full-, half- and third f-Stops, the exposure triangle, the "sunny 16 rule" and an table with dpi for printing vs. megapixels
- it calculates the needes pixels for printing small, medium or large prints depending on the quality
- it calculates the useful printing sizes for desired qualitys depending on the pixels of your image-file
That's it for the moment. I only included stuff that I find useful myself and that I can use while an photo tours and outside.
I would be happy if the app is useful to some of you. If you take a look, I would be glad for some feedback - especially if you observe errors or find some typos (I am even unsure with some translations from german to english) or have some ideas on how to improve the app.
As I wrote earlier, this is my first app ever, so I do not know where the journey goes for this app. At the moment I think about adding a night mode and a calculator for moon-phase and sunset/golden- and blue hour in later versions.
I hope this thread here does not violates any forum ruels. I am - at the moment - looking for the possibilty to get some english speaking / international users and get their feedback. In the german community I got some response and was able to fix some issues already. Thanks for any feedback I might get.
Have a good weekend,
Jens
