Are you serious? How on earth does the M mount allow for a smaller lens than RF? It isn’t a case like EF-s where a mirror was going to hit the back of the lens. There is no reason Canon couldn’t make a reduced circle RF mount lens for an APS-c sensor that is the same size as an M mount lens.

This is true...
But in my experience... really the whole upgrade path thing was over rated. What I have come to see is that it can be handy to be able to use FF glass on APS-C bodies if you happen to own both formats. But it is quite inconvenient to use APS-C lenses on FF bodies because of the massive amount of data you lose. You might say that if you have a 75MP camera or something like that it would be fine, but the vast majority of us have the 20-30 MP range cameras.
And then you have the practical approach to things... Canon should essentially fill out EF-M mount lens line up quickly, and then plan to sunset it. They should either keep FF RF mound and EF-M mount. Or they should eventually ditch EF-M all together and go full on RF mount... for APS-C and for FF. Maintaining EF-S, EF, EF-M, RF and RF-Crop seems like way way too many line ups. The market is shrinking after all not growing, so some consolidation and tidying up would make more business sense.
