Hi everyone, first time poster so thank you in advance for any help you can give.
I have an EOS 800d fitted with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens. I am trying to take photos of my family over Christmas in the house but it constantly needs the flash to take any sort of crisp photograph. Even when set to 'P' with flash disabled in a room with all the lights on it seems to insist on shooting at 1/13, F5.6 at ISO 6400.
Use the flash! That’s why it’s made...to supply attractive light when there isn’t enough light! Plus your 18-55 kit lens is “slow” aperture. You are probably using it often at 30-55 mm where at widest it is f/5.6 which doesn’t let in a lot of light. Use the flash. Pics will look better than noisy and blurry!
If I shoot on 'TV' mode and set a faster shutter speed it just takes under exposed shots the whole time.
It is fine outside in natural light just seems to be indoors despite lights being turned on and plenty of light in the room.
I know I could just keep the flash on all the time but I can't help feeling there is something wrong with the camera,
nope
I haven't changed any in depth settings anywhere. Could it just be the lens that the camera came with is bad and I need a better one?
Again, thank you in advance and Happy Holidays to you all.
