i think the second is the f1.4 at f2, but this isn't an image that illustrates the difference (to shine) and if this is the type of image that you take then perhaps it doesn't matter too much.

The shutter speed is different between the two and the ISO isnt shown so I am not sure whether the exposure has been adjusted ?

I tried to strip out as much of the EXIF as possible. The small difference in exposure doesn't matter that much.

Which of the two has the magical out of focus background quality?

I own the 50/2 an the 56/1.2 and had the 60/2.4. The differences between the 50/2 and the 56/1.2 at F2 are the most obvious imo as the 50/2 is so extremly sharp.

The 35/1.4 has one ratehr large aspect that some people including yourself are overlooking: it is an F1.4 lens.

Reminds me of the good old days where some people compared the 85/1.4 with the 85/1.8 Nikkor - at F2 ...

Some things so it seems never die quickly.

There are of course also a few Canon F1.4 vs F1.2 lenses. They could also be compared at F2 ...

But that with all due respect is often not the point.
