Re: Simply the best Fujinon 35mm
2
The issue here is that this post the op is posting something here as decree!! "The Best Superlative".
Both lenses are good and can better the other at different things.
By their own admission fuji designed 1.4 to give a certain look/ character, however the lens is lacking in many other technical advancements that they brought into the f/2 version and a more general standard look (rendering) which is a little different than the 1.4. The NON-Linear gradation in sharpness/ resolution combined with a different contrast gradation gives makes for a lot of 1.4 rendering.
Sure it's not everybody's cup of tea ( or even as visible/impactful for many) and hence the technically superior 35/2.
The only three major things common among them:
1: They Both are Fuji.
2: They both are 35mm.
3: The both can produce beautiful images.
None is better or best/worse without a context.
On a personal note I much like lenes that have perfected a particular look so I much Prefer the 1.4. and would buy it again in a heartbeat.
If I were shooting landscapes/forensics or something where corner to corner sharpness were critical to the rendering I'd rather spend on a much more optically corrected lens for a flatter even rendering but that is just another use case (context).
None of the fuji prime lenses I Own (16/2.4, 24/2, 35/1.4, 80/2.8) beat my manual voigtlander 58/1.4 on my x-t3 at around 2.8 when it comes to that rendering or look that I so love. So in that context it's the best, but is it really in general??
As someone correctly pointed out it's a tool, knowing what to use and when is experience, and being able to produce the rendering you want is your artistry/skill.
It takes time and lot of patience to learn and master any particular lens , and I guess though not so much to be a critic/reviewer.
