Really strange... Make sure you insert the micro sdcard with the correct orientation and that the Pi is not defective.

1 question: is the microSD supposed to display like this after flashing with Buster Lite via Balena Etcher?

I recall the total size is 2.25Gb after extraction, but it is not reflected on the microSD, regardless of which card I use.

One question, are you flashing directly the compressed zip file in the sd card with balena etcher? Because once I did this mistake and the Pi was not booting, even though balena etcher didn't complain.

After downloading the Raspbian image, you should extract it (you should get a ".img" file) and then flash this img file with balena etcher.
