M6 II or EOS RP?
1

My dad has been shooting an EOS 600D for a while. All his lenses are EF mount (full frame).

He primarily shoots wildlife, including birds in flight.

I want to get him a new camera and my budget is $1000.

I am debating between the M6 II with the add-on EVF and an EF adapter, or an EOS RP.

I am leaning towards the M6 - which is why I am posting here. I figure in the EOS R forum is where I am mostly likely to get honest reasons why getting the RP might be better.

Personally, I shoot Sony full-frame. But, I can't afford to buy my dad a camera AND new lenses, so I want to get him a camera now that will let him use the lenses he has. In general, I would prefer full frame. But, for the shooting he does, I feel like APS-C might actually be better for him. He doesn't have the glass to even fill an APS-C frame with a lot of the birds he shoots. So, 32 MP in a smaller frame seems like it will generally yield him better results than 26 MP in a bigger frame that has to be really cropped down.

Also, from the reviews I read, it sounds like the AF in the M6 might be better for what he shoots than the AF in the RP.

Any thoughts to help me decide what to get are greatly appreciated.
