When using the flash one is supposed to turn OFF the function of the EVF that shows you "real time" view of the exposure as it will indeed be OFF from what you'd see in the EVF if you using a flash. Just a thought. I used a Godox 860II flash on the R last week and it had no delay issues.
Not sure if we are talking about the same thing. I have set the view of the playback image to OFF (how I set up all my cameras). What I think I am trying to describe is that the ongoing refresh of the viewfinder is active on the Sony even after the shutter is pressed where on the EOS R it appears to stop once the shutter is activated.
On the flash issue. a follow up. My bad. I thought I had turned Image Review to 0 but checked the camera this morning and I was wrong. It was set at 2 sec. So I will have to try and take additional flash images to make sure it was just a wrong setting that set my perspective.
For the flash I was using my older 430EX-II by the way. Unfortunately I had sold off all of my very nice 600EX-RT's prior to buying back into Canon. This time around I may go down the Godox path since I use them for my Sony and used to use the bigger ones for Canon as well. For external flash I still have a trigger for Canon so my AD360's and AD400 Pro are my main lights. If I buy another camera based flash I may go get a second V1 like I have for the Sony. Very happy with it and got a great black Friday deal on it.
